In the dialogue Merve says:
Aș vrea caşcaval pane(I would like cheese in breadcrumbs)

This form of the verb is known as the conditional. It is made up in Romanian of auxiliary forms plus the infinitive without a:

aş vrea I would like I can reach am vrea we would like
ai vrea you would like I can reach aţi vrea you would like
ar vrea he/she/it would like ar vrea am vrea they would like

The conditional is most commonly used in Romanian in sentences that contain a clause introduced by the conjunction dacă 'if' (note that, in such sentences in English the past tense is generally used in the clause introduced by 'if'):
Dacă am avea bani am merge în Italia.
If we had enough money we would go to Italy.
Ei te-ar vizita dacă ar avea timp .
They would visit you if they had time.

Practice:

1.Imagine you are in a restaurant and order your lunch and dinner, using the folowing prompts:
Ca aperitiv aș dori...........
Aș vrea și o ciorbă/supă de .........
Pentru felul doi vreau...........
Ca desert aș vrea..........
De băut vreau...............
2. Write a short recipe of your favourite meal by simply listing the ingredients.
3.Translate into Romanian:
1 For breakfast I have a cup of coffee, bread and jam and a fruit salad.
2 At lunch Jane has country-style vegetable soup, fried trout and a beer.
3 In the evening the Ionescu family have pork on the bone with cabbage and pancakes with jam.
4 I would like to have beef broth and minced meat and rice rolled in pickled cabbage leaves with polenta (maize porridge),please.
5 Today we want to have beans with smoked ribs for lunch
6 For dessert, they have cheese dumplings with cream.
7.Would you like a cup of coffeee?
8. It I had money, 1 would buy a new flat.
9. Victor would like Murfatlar wine and Ioana would like Cotnari wine.
10. Susan would drink an espresso coffee.

A Glimpse of Romanian Culture:

Food in Everyday Life:

Breakfast is usually a simple meal consisting of bread, butter, and jam, as well as tea. Early afternoon is when the largest meal is consumed. Mititei, garlic-seasoned grilled sausage, is a popular appetizer. As a first course, borsch, a cabbage soup with bran, or ciorba, a lamb, mushroom, and other meats and vegetables soup, are popular. Main courses are typically meat-based, such as tocană, a garlic-and-onion-flavored pork stew. Sarmale, packed cabbage leaves with rice and pork, and mămăglia, a cornmeal dish commonly served with poached eggs, are two more popular meals. Side dishes consist of vegetables. Plăcinte, a type of pie, and baclava, a pastry composed of nuts and honey, are popular treats.
